Therapy with Katelin
My approach to counseling is client-centered; I work with you to create the best-fit treatment to your needs. I work with adults, adolescents, and children on a variety of issues. Our goal together will be to help you feel more in tune with yourself and navigate life with a healthy perspective.
I have been providing therapy services since 2017. Prior to private practice, I worked with families involved in the child welfare system who have experienced abuse, neglect, addiction, sexual trauma and community violence. I am proud of you for starting this journey for yourself, whether that is with me or another provider.
I am trained in the use of Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) as well as Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR). I also have certification in the treatment of youth who have caused sexual harm through IN-AJSOP. I utilize Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and incorporate mindfulness and building of coping skills for everyone.
Background & Fun Info
A bit of background on my path to here. I have wanted to be a therapist since 8th grade. I actually have an academic paper from Careers class in middle school describing how I could become a psychologist. I took as many Psychology classes as I could in high school. Attended Anderson University (2015) with a Bachelors in both Psychology and Sociology. Then finished, for now, with my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Ball State University (2017).
You will rarely see me without a coffee in hand. My favorite go-to drink is a dirty chai latte
I have a 3 year old Bichon Frise named Kumo. He is my best friend.
I have a wonderful wife that I have been with for 11 years and love dearly.
I'm a January Aquarius
I am quite chill and want those in my office (physical or virtual) to feel comfortable. I look forward to working with you.
